From the Mind of Stephanie

Soul Food

While sharing pictures online of my recent travels to the ocean to feed my soul, a Facebook friend asked me, “I’m curious, what do souls eat?” Spoken in jest, I still couldn’t stop thinking about this question.

Souls … eat energy… in whatever form fills them best.

For some people that energy comes in the form of water… from an ocean, or a lake, or stream.

For another, the trees call to them or a hike through the mountains sets their mind at ease and their heart at peace.

For others, the fresh clean unpolluted air with a clear night sky full of stars is all they need to feel rejuvenated .

And for some… a warm fire fills their soul.

But for everyone, it is an energy form that is unique to them. Our very own kind of soul food. Consumed through all the senses, filling up our minds and our hearts.

For me, the ocean feeds my soul. Every time. I just need to close my eyes and smell the salty sea air and my soul is home. A swim through the water is like my own personal spiritual worship and communion with nature. There is nothing more sensual and uplifting than being at one with the ocean.

And my home keeps calling to my soul and every time I answer the call, I am filled.

What fills your soul? How do you nourish yourself so that you can be filled in order to truly love and give to others?

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

Remember when you were a child and were asked on the first day of school every year what you wanted to be when you grew up?

What was your answer?

Did you follow through with that dream?

I didn’t.

I let my own fear and insecurity get in the way and decided to do something more sensible. My dream went on the back burner. That’s the funny thing about dreams… you aren’t supposed to let them come true because then they wouldn’t be a dream any longer, right?

Well, that’s what I used to think.

Life is short and tomorrow we may not be here. Living a life with unfulfilled dreams is no way to live. I don’t want to be filled with regrets.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up and what are you going to do to make that happen?
